Released Big Giant Swords - 17.02.2015
Big Giant Swords, a new documentary and reality program, was released on Discovery on January 13, 2015. It comes from the production company Thinkfactory Media and is produced by Brian Dale.
The main personages followed by Big Giant Swords are "Irish Mike" Craughwell, Matthew Barton, an apprentice, and Michael Robinson, a videographer. Mike lives on Martha's Vineyard Island in Massachusetts and builds enormous custom swords. A used-to-be welder, he got tired of his job and went into more creative field, making tautological swords. Mike can unmistakably appreciate swords at their true worth as he is keen of fantasy and role-playing games. It’s interesting that he has a big beard and claims he never takes shower.
Michael “Amerimike” Robinson has become Mike’s friend due to their common passion for role-playing games. The series also features Erik Bang-Birge, Irish Mike’s employee; Jamie Rogers, a gifted blacksmith; Jonny Rich, a go-to guy when it comes to testing swords; and Amelia Smith, Mike’s spouse and mother of their two kids.
To the fans’ huge disappointment, the broadcasting network hasn’t renewed Big Giant Swords for the sophomore cycle soon after season 1 finished. In fact, the series has been warmly received by critics and the audience and scores 8.1 out of 10 on IMDb. It hasn’t got any big giant awards, but the process of sword-making is so well-filmed that there is no doubt the experts will appreciate it highly.
